Destination Canada conducts product presentation workshop for Skål International Kolkata members

Skål International Kolkata organised its first SKAL Networking Meeting of 2020 with Destination Canada product presentation in Kolkata. Destination Canada India Office Representative and CEO & strategy director of Charson Advisory, Carl Vaz, presented Canada for the Indian tourists and its offerings for the Indian market. The session was also attended by officials from Canadian embassy and Immigrations, Refugees and Citizenship Canada who presented the process of applying for a tourist visa to the country. Another presentation was made by Prasad Gopinath, president of DMCi, a Canada-based DMC about the destination offerings.

"We are here to make a presentation to the members of Skal International Kolkata. While we have done presentations with Skal in other cities, it is our first time organising an event with them. We are here to address the travel agents and tour operators to make them aware of Canada as a product for leisure and incentives. The idea is that they look at Canadian packages not only in summer but the focus is also on spring and fall and the winter wonderland concept," said Carl Vaz, to India Outbound.

Speaking about the winter wonderland in Canada, he said, “The winter wonderland concept is about snowmobiling, dog-sledding, ice-fishing, ice wine, living in an igloo, seeing the aurora borealis - the northern lights in the fall season. That’s the context of the presentation this afternoon.”

“I would like to thank Skål International Kolkata for hosting me this afternoon. It is a wonderful experience meeting some of the leading travel agents from the east India market. I am here to present Canada, the opportunities that Canada presents to the industry here. I believe that Canada will be a top-notch destination for Indians who are travelling long-haul. Indians have already been to New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, Brazil, and the USA. So what I feel is that there is an opportunity in the market for a new destination and Canada can be one of the best destinations to fulfil that need,” said Prasad Gopinath to India Outbound.

Commenting on the Canada presentation, the president of Skål International Kolkata, Sanjeev Mehra said, "It was an extremely helpful and informative session for the outbound agents and operators who attended the workshop. We had many questions which got answered not only by the tourism board but also by the embassy representatives as we do and intend to host large groups to Canada. There is a steady flow of educational tourism to Canada as a large number of Indian students go to study in Canada and subsequently their families travel too, now we are discovering more focus areas to promote this country. We expect to sell this destination in a better way in the near future."
