WTM Africa

Reed Exhibitions, organisers of WTM Africa is assuring the general tourism and travel public that this year’s event will go on as planned from 06 – 08 April in Cape Town, South Africa.

Amidst the continuous spread of the COVID-19 (Coronavirus), the industry’s trade shows organisers globally have had to take drastic decisions to minimize further transmissions. Last week ITB Berlin, one of the largest travel trade event in the world cancelled this year’s edition which was due to take place early March.

In a mail sent to VoyagesAfriq, Reed Exhibitions said, they have no intentions of cancelling WTM Africa this year.

“In light of the announcement of the cancelation of ITB Berlin on Friday, we would like to advise you that WTM Africa has no plans to cancel the event happening from 06 – 08 April 2020. The decision has been made based on the fact that our exhibitors fall
outside of high risk COVID-19 areas.”

In terms of International Buyers attending the event however, the event organisers say attendees from China, Korea, Iran and Italy
“will no longer be visiting WTM Africa 2020 in the interest of health and safety.”

To augment this, Reed Exhibitions is advising exhibitors and participants that “we have additional buyers from other countries that will be attending in their place to ensure that exhibitors will still enjoy a successful show.”

“We will continue to monitor all areas and the relative Buyer origins on a daily basis. Further to this, additional hygiene precautions have been put in place and furthermore, alcohol-based hand sanitisers and tissues will be placed throughout the venue,” they assured.
