The island of Jersey at the southernmost part of British Channel Islands is famous for Jersey Cow, Lilly Langtry and the Bergerac TV series during the 1980s. It is yet to become a familiar name among the Indian travellers for many reasons.

Ironically, many Indians still confuse it with the American state of New Jersey! Till now, the destination is perceived as a bit niche and has not been frequented by many Asians. However, in the post-pandemic scenario, when luxury travel will take a lead, such niche destinations may well be in demand and Indians may add Jersey to their Europe tour list.

Admeasuring just over 115 sqkm, Jersey’s tiny size makes it easy to fit plenty into a weekend. It is not part of the European Union, European Economic Area or Schengen Area. However, as part of the British Crown, it follows the UK immigration rules and requires a UK visa for the Indian passport holders.

Jersey is roughly about an hour’s flying distance from any of the key airports in the UK. It is important to note that though the main UK mobile networks don’t extend to Jersey and hence mobile and internet connections need to be well checked in advance, however free wifi is offered at almost everywhere.

A perfect island break for a couple or an adventure for the entire family, Jersey can provide an alternate experience to the countryside UK or France. From beach walks and coastal driving routes to memorable food experiences in restaurants and cafes overlooking the sea, relaxing weekends in the fresh salt air and boat trips with stunning views, Jersey has the setting for a cool luxurious island vacation.
