A Danish company popular amongst locals and tourists for its solar-energy powered boats built with recycled plastic bottles, has invented a novel setup, launched on May 10, 2021 to allow guests to safely attend concerts and other public events on the water, and with social distance, whilst enjoying food and drinks through the launch a brand-new floating venue in Copenhagen’s inner harbour.

The company is all set to host floating events, talks and concerts throughout the summer of 2021 with its new stage. The exciting venture will allow visitors to enjoy music and arts in the Danish capital. The venture also aims to bring people together in an entirely new frame where nature, urban development, water, food, drinks, and beach vibes meet up in a brilliant symphony.

The idea which arose from the context of the pandemic involves a specially designed wire system across a small closed 80-metrewide canal near the centre of Copenhagen which will allow boats sailing from GoBoat’s dock at Islands Brygge, a popular harbour front area in central Copenhagen, in groups of eight every 15 minutes to ensure social distancing to dock in. The capacity of the venue is 44 picnic boats with a maximum of eight persons per boat all the while keeping a distance from other boats and guests. In addition, it will be possible to buy seats (beach chairs) and participate in the events from the local streetfood market Teglværket’s beach.

The concept offers both local and foreign visitors a chance to experience the city manner never seen before and is expected to create cherished memories for years to come.
